The motives behind Children’s Day celebration was reenacted at Government field Agbor, on Monday 27th May, 2019, by one of the most celebrated Nollywood Actress and wife of the Delta north senator elect, Princess Regina Nwoko, as she treats thousands of children from Delta north with gifts, live musics and great funs.

Originally, Children’s Day was an initiative of an American clergyman, Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard, a pastor of the Universalist Church of the Redeemer in Chelsea, Massachusetts. On second Sunday of June 1857, Rev. Leonard held a special service dedicated to the children, at the end of which gifts were presented to the children present after the funs filled prayer session. Leonard named the day Rose Day. It was later named Flower Sunday, and then named Children’s Day.
In 1964, the United Nations adopted 20 November as Universal Children’s Holiday.
Thus it became universally adopted as International Day for the Protection of Children and to give children around the world opportunity to meet and interact with one another. The day is observed on different dates by countries around the globe.

In Nigeria, Children’s Day is observed every 27th May yearly. So, on this year’s special children’s day celebration, Princess Regina Nwoko, through her Regina Daniel’s Foundation, decided to take it to a higher level, to make it memorable for Delta north Children and it was awesomely memorable to them.

Rejoice, Oluchi, ages 15 and 14 respectively, cousins of mine, whom I took to the venue alongside with their four school mates, were overwhelmed with joy as they relay their experiences of the day on our way home.
“I touched Pawpaw (Chinedu Ikedieze), oh my God! I touched him live, my only regret was that I had no phone to take selfies with him”, said Oluchi.
“Regina Daniels is exactly what she is in movies, look at how she was talking, dancing and acting, very much what she does in movies. she is very beautiful, I tried to touch her but the crowd was just too much,” narrated Perpetual, one of my cousin’s school mate.

“Rejoice, did you take a closer look at Regina Daniels, I think you two look alike, you both have the same eyes, mouth and chin shapes. But you are black and she is fair,” Abigail another of my cousins school mate teased Rejoice, jokingly.
I was calm, listening to them as they narrated their experiences. When I ask them whether they enjoy the day, the answer was a chorus, “yes”. Then I knew that other thousands of youths who where there also shared similar joyful experience.

There is no doubt that the event was one that will not be forgotten by these children in may years to come. It was something different, awesome.

Actually, the turnout is difficult to describe in a single word or phrase, the public field Agbor, was simply a sea of Children at sight. Parents who escorted their children and wards to the venue and men of all works of life who came from far and near, where there also to savour to the carnival.

Tiwa Savage kept the voltage of the charged atmosphere very high with her scintillating hip hop brand of music. Popular musicians, like Africa China, Erigga, Zlatan Igile, MC Galaxy and Sam White, also thrilled the children with their tunes and swags.

In attendance also, were the kingpins of the Nollywood industry, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Ejike Asiegbu, Zulu Okafor, Chinedu Ikedieze and host of comedians.

The Idumuje Ugboko cool off party was splendid and grandiose, as everyone present were hosted to diner, wine and dance.

The senator elect, Prince Dr Ned Nwoko’s campaign to rescue and salvage Anioma land from myopic representation and self-centered ingrates, and usher in an all encompassing socioeconomic development to our great land and people has begun in earnest. With Regina Daniels, another star by his side, it is save to say, good days has come to our land.

Congratulations, Regi. We thank God for a successful and hitch free 2019 Children’s day carnival. Next year is another fun, this is one of the best ways to promote tourism in our country.
