Delta – born sports enthusiasts, the national President, Project Tourism Nigeria, Hon. Princes (Dr) Ned Munir Nwoko, NMN, has urged Team Delta to the 2019 National Youth Games, to show class and maintain the state’s supremacy in sports.

The international legal icon, stated this in a goodwill message sent to the team on Saturday 6th September, shortly after their departure to University of Ilorin, kwara State, host of the annual national youth sports meet.

In the message released to the press by one of his media aides, the foremost philanthropists and promoter of sports, education, culture and tourism in Nigeria, Prince Ned Nwoko, said, ‘I am so much happy that His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, my brother, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is always at the forefront in encouraging and supporting our young sportsmen and women to get involved in sporting activities. Such actions are needed to encourage our youth to indulged in useful ventures which help divert their youthful vigors from nefarious activities.’

Continuing the doyen of the Paris Club Refunds noted, ‘Delta state is a home of sports, and it gives every Deltan great pleasure to watch and hear the news of the exploits of young Deltans in sports around the globe. Our sports stars have helped to grow the economy and promote the image of the country.
We must continue to encourage our youth to develop and express their talents in sports, for their personal life fulfilments and for the glory of the state.’ he stated.

Further, the head of Project Tourism in Nigeria and Vice Chancellor of the proposed first sports University in sub sahara Africa, the Stars University, Idumuje Ugboko, Delta State, Prince Ned Nwoko, added, ‘Project Tourism Nigeria, which I am privileged to head, recognises the leading role sports play in promoting global tourism.
We are working to develop and promote the sector as a means of expanding the tourism subsector of the national economy.’ he stated.

On my individual level, he stated, ‘my University when operational will help to train professionals that are needed to mann critical sectors of the sports industries that will in turn, lead to full expansion of the industry in the country and my Foundation, Ned Nwoko Foundation will continue to assist sports talent to develop.’

In conclusion, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko enjoined Delta State coaches and athletes participating in the games, to strive hard, to show class in their events and endeavour to maintain the state’s supremacy in sports.

He, above all enjoined the youth to enjoy the game, make friends with fellow youth from other parts of the country, through which, he noted, will help promote bonds of unity needed for national cohesion.

It would be recall that Hon. Prince (Dr) Ned Munir Nwoko, in practical demonstration of his love for sporting excellence, hosted the 2018 NSF and NYG victorious team Delta to a grandiose dinner party at his palatial compound, Idumuje Ugboko, where he dole out mouth watering largess of twenty million naira to the team in addition to offers of scholarship awards to twenty outstanding athletes.

Also, most recently, on 29th through 31st August, he sponsored 60Goals Global’s Soccer Stars Project to Delta State for a 3-day football scouting program, where 25 talented footballers were fished out and are being prepared for assistant to secure contract in the lucrative football clubs in Europe.

Thus opening up a new vista for the less privileged but talented footballers in Delta State, to rise to stardom in the game.

Meanwhile Delta State is poised to win the 5th Youth Games, haven won it for four consecutive times since the inception of the games in 2014.
