Covid-19 Compulsory Face Masks: Work, Business Activities May Resume Soon In Delta.

By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe.

There are four critical measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19; regular washing of hands with soap and running water, sanitizing hands with alcohol based sanitizer, social distancing and wearing of face masks to prevent contracting the virus via air.

It is easy to avoid handshakes, it’s also easy to wash hands regularly with soap and running water. The other two preventive measures are kind of difficult and may not be easy to adhered to by some folks, that is; regular wearing of face masks and social distancing, especially when relating or conversing with loved ones.

One thing is sure and that is that we must do the needful to stay alive either as individuals or as a people. Covid-19 pandemic is real and the world is almost helpless because no cure has been found, no vaccine for the effective cure of the deadly virus. So, we must join efforts to combat and prevent the pandemic from ravaging Delta and the world.

In Delta State, government took early steps to combat and prevent the virus and this proactive measure is the very reason why Covid-19 cases is low in the state. The effort is best appreciated when viewed from the economic sacrifices occasioned by the ongoing lockdown.

State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, is driving government action plans to keep Delta safe and healthy by ordering one million pieces of face masks; to be distributed free of charge to citizens. Government objective is to ensure that wearing of face mask is made compulsory and violators may be sanctioned while government huge investment in the production of the face masks is justified.

It is very possible that at the expiration of the second phase 14 days stay at home executive order, the governor may not extend the order. If this happens, compulsory wearing of face masks shall be enforced to prevent contracting the virus via air when interacting with customers, clients, colleagues, loved ones and at schools.

Delta face masks are made from special fabrics and therefore can be washed with soap, and used again and again. It is safe and reliable.

My fear is that the federal government may decide to impose nationwide lockdown and Mr President may order stay at home throughout the 36 states and the FCT. If this happens, all of us shall be locked in for another one month or so. It has been said that Mr president may take critical decisions about the prevention and spread of Covid-19, anytime soon.

For now, let’s hope that the stay at home order will be suspended in Delta State, upon expiration and we shall be wearing face masks, continue to maintain social distancing, wash our hands regularly with soap and running water and sanitize our hands frequently with alcohol based sanitizers.

Government effort is commendable, and we as citizens must endeavour to wear face masks as may be required to combat and prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

Stronger Delta, Let’s Stay Together.
