- COVID-19 IS NOT A SCAM, IT IS REAL AND IS IN OUR MIDST, LET’S ADHERE TO SAFETY MEASURES TO OVERCOME THE PANDEMIC

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring and a member of Surveillance of Covid-19 Treatment and Isolation Centres team, Dr Kingsley Amaihunwa has reminded the residents of Delta State that the global coronavirus pandemic is real, not a myth and very much in our midst here in Delta State. He therefore, call on residents of the state to continue to adhere strictly to safety measures introduced by healthcare experts and the state government to overcome the highly contagious and deadly virus.
- Dr Amaihunwa stated this while speaking with reporters after visiting the Covid-19 Treatment and Isolation Wards in the Central Hospital, Warri. He described the erroneous notion harboured by some individuals that the disease is a scam, as reckless and dangerous, adding that such assumption is detrimental to the safety of residents of the state as it spreads wrong and misleading information among the people. He therefore caution individuals harbouring such views, to take the pandemic seriously for their personal safety, the safety of their love ones and the state.
He commended the front line health workers for their dedication to duty and praised His Excellency, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, for taken proactive actions to curtail the spread of the virus and for providing equipment in hospitals across the state to manage the pandemic and other illnesses in the state.
He words, “I am just coming out from the treatment and Isolation wards of the hospital here (Central Hospital Warri). The Covid-19 patients are in good conditions and are responding to treatments.
I want to emphasized that Covid-19 is very real, it is not a scam and is here in our midst. I heard some individuals erroneously saying that the disease is a scam. Such notion is reckless and dangerous to the persons harbouring the opinion and bad for the safety of the residents of the state. Coronavirus is not a ruse, it is highly contagious and very deadly, especially to those who have underlining health conditions.” He emphasized.
Further, Dr Amaihunwa advised, “I want to encourage every residents of our great state to always adhere to the preventive measures as introduced by the healthcare experts and the state government to keep us safe from the pandemic.
We must not feel unconcerned about the pandemic, it is a global disease that has no vaccine yet.
The only way we can keep ourselves safe from the monster virus is to ensure that we wear facemask, wash our hands regularly with soaps under running water or use hand sanitizer, keep a hygienic environment and practice social distancing. We must avoid neighbourhood clustering.” The SSA advised.
Dr Amaihunwa, in conclusion said, “His Excellency, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the dynamic Governor of our dear Delta State, must be commended earnestly for his proactive actions in curtailing the spread of this pandemic. His early actions have made it possible to contain the spread, we must play our part as citizens to assist government to control this virulent disease.
I have gone round the hospital and I must confess that the equipment in our hospitals, will go a long way in managing this pandemic and other illnesses in the state. I highly commend the Governor for the premium attention he is paying to the health and wellbeing of the residents of the state.
I also want to use this medium to thank the front line health workers across the state, for their commitment and dedication to duty, their heroic efforts are helping to keep us safe from this pandemic. But we must avoid been complaisant, Coronavirus is real, it is not a scam, it is here in our midst.
