EVERYBODY WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE MALARIA ERADICATION PROJECT..
— HON PRINCE NED NWOKO.

By Iroroh Frank

The Delta born millionaire philanthropist and the initiator of the international campaign for the eradication of the scourge of malaria in Africa, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko has stated that the malaria eradication in Africa project which will start in Nigeria early next year will involve every Nigerian from the village dwellers to city dwellers and from peasant farmers to okada riders, civil servants, bankers, professors and everybody and that it will be a comprehensive cleanup exercise which will be carried out simultaneously across every part of the country.

The Antarctica explorer revealed this information in his acceptance speech after the Presentation of DISTINGUISH SERVICE AWARD to him by Delta State University, Abraka, on Saturday October 3rd. The award was presented to him in recognition of his pioneering efforts towards the eradication of the scourge of malaria in Africa.

HON PRINCE (DR) NED NWOKO DELIVERING HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

Hon Prince (Dr) Ned Nwoko’s acceptance speech reads in part, “in addition to funding malaria vaccine researches, the second approach we want to apply is to cleanup Nigeria, because it is a known fact that mosquito which carries the parasite that causes malaria breeds faster in a dirty environments. So what we need to do is to put together holistic approach, we are working together with the Local governments, the state governments and the federal government. Their will be a time, maybe early next year where everybody from the peasant farmers to okada ridders, civil servants, bankers, professors, everybody will be call upon to clean up Nigeria. It will not be like the monthly environmental exercise. This will be far reaching. It will require something close to the lockdown we experience few months ago. Everybody will be involved. The first thing that will be done is to clean all the gutters all the streets and fumigate the ditches, ponds, places containing stagnant water and the entire environments. We are not born into dirt. We do not have to live with dirt. Everybody must be involved.” He emphasized.

Really, malaria parasite is a leading causes of sickness and deaths in Africa especially among pregnant women and children. WHO, estimates that close to 500,000 persons are killed by malaria annually in mostly African countries.
Everybody in Africa is affected by the scourge of malaria. Billions of money are spent by individual households and governments in Africa annually to manage the disease.

FEMALE ANOPHELES MOSQUITOES , THE VECTOR OF PLASMODIUM SP THE PARASITE THAT CAUSES MALARIA.

Malaria is transmitted by the female anopheles mosquitoes which breed fast in dirty environments, especially in areas containing stagnant water, for example, inside carelessly discarded cans, tins, broken calabash, on ponds, ditches, slow moving water and along filthy river banks.

Thorough environmental clean up will destroy the breeding places for mosquitoes and help to reduce its population. Proper environmental clean up done alongside thorough fumigation around Nigeria, will drastically reduce the population of mosquito, if not completely eliminate it from our shores.
This is the audacious project which Hon Prince Dr Ned Nwoko has planed to accomplish through his foundation, the Ned Nwoko Foundation.
It is a life saving projects, and we must all join hands to make this noble and patriotic dream come true.
” eradication of malaria in Africa is for everybody,” – Prince Ned Nwoko (2019).
