FG inaugurates 11-man task force on airport matters

By Favour Nnabugwu MINISTER of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, Thursday, inaugurated an 11-man taskforce to address regulatory issues at the nation’s airports. Speaking during the inauguration in Abuja, Sirika said the taskforce is mandated to look into the payment of multiple charges by the operators, state of infrastructure at the airports as well as negotiation of Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASA). The membership of the task force includes the Minister of State for Aviation as Chairman; Special Adviser to the President on Economic matters; Director General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN); Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). Others are, Capt. Bogie Maggison, nominee of the Association of Airline Operators; Mr. Allen Onyema, nominee of the Association of Airline Operators; Alhaji Kashim Shettima, nominee of the Association of Airline Operators; Capt. Mohammed Joji, nominee of the Association of Airline Operators; Department of Air Transport Management, FMOT; and International Air Transport Association (IATA)- Representative. Sirika expressed delight over the inauguration as he urged the members to do justice to the matters so they can be closed once and for all. Meanwhile, the Minister also announced that Nigeria will host the International Civil Aviation Organization World Aviation Forum (ICAOWAF) towards the end of November this year. He remarked that Nigeria is privileged to be the first country to host the forum that will have not less than 58 ministers from all over the world in attendance.
