By Frank Iroroh

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on health monitoring, Dr Kingsley Amaihunwa has stated that delightful nursing mothers at Government Hospital, Omadina and other monitored facilities, who have been enjoying the Free maternal health care services, been implemented by administration of His Excellency, Sen Dr Author Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, have commended the Governor and wish His Excellency and his family a Merry Xmas and happy new year in advance.

The SSA disclosed this to news men recently at Abigborodo after a 3-day marathon of monitoring and evaluation of health care facilities in Patani LGA, Warri South West LGA and Warri South LGA.

Addressing the press after the exercise, Dr Amaihunwa said, “today we are rounding up the first phase of monitoring and evaluation of health care facilities in the Delta South senatorial district for the year 2020.”

“The exercise has been an eye opener and revealing, like in every other Health Care facilities visited so far, delightful nursing mothers at the Antenatal Care Unit and maternity ward of the Government Hospital Omadino were very happy for the free maternal and children under 5 health care services offered to them by the administration of His Excellency, Senator Dr Author Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State. In fact, the nursing mothers while praying for the Governor, have asked me to extend their season’s best complements to the Governor and his family””As we went round the maternity wards of the monitored facilities, we observed nursing mothers who gave birth through caesarean section, this is an operation that would have cost them enormous amount of money but were performed free of charges. So the women were very happy and thankful to the Governor for the free maternal health care and children under 5 health care services.”

“Another thing worth mentioning is the levels of response to the statewide Yellow fever vaccination exercise currently going on. I want to say that from what we saw, the response to the vaccination exercise has been massive and successful. There were no shortages of vaccines in all the Health Care Centres and vaccination posts we visited, .” Dr Amaihunwa further advised, that, those residents of the State between the ages of 9 months to 44 years yet to be vaccinated should endeavour to do so on or before Wednesday, the 16th day of December, 2020.

Continuing the SSA said, “although our primary duties are to Monitor, evaluate, appraise and report on the status of the health facilities to His Excellency, the Governor for immediate solution to some observed problems, we also share ideas with managements of these facilities on how they can increase productivity and increase the enrollee strength of the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme in their facilities, especially the informal sector, to enable more members of their host communities benefit from the quality, accessible and affordable health care program of His Excellency’s administration.
