BENEFICIARIES OF FREE MATERNAL CARE EULOGIES GOVERNOR OKOWA

The maternity ward of the Central Hospital Ughelli was thrown into a cacophony of songs and prayer section as beneficiaries of the free maternal and child health care program of the state government broke into songs and praises as they notice the presence of Health monitors in the health facility. The nursing mothers who were visibly very happy for the care they and their babies received from the hospital without paying a dime sang praises of His Excellency, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State and pray God to continue to grant the Governor good health and long life for not only sustaining the program but for also improving the quality of the service. The women stated that they were promptly attended without demand for anything, even when some did not attend prenatal check up in the hospital. “I was quickly attended to, when I came here and told the nurses that I was experiencing labor pains,” said a happy Cordelia (not her real name), as she fumbles with the nose of her two days old son. “Even when I did not come here for prenatal care because I lived in the next community, I was nevertheless registered and attended to very promptly.”I want you to thank Governor Okowa for me. May God bless him, grant him good health and long life.” Said the highly excited Cordelia as she broke into songs, Governor Okowa you do well! Addressing the nursing mothers Dr Kingsley Amaihunwa, Senior Special to Delta State government on Health Monitoring, who alongside his colleague Dr Sam Efetobor SSA Health Monitoring were in the hospital for unscheduled monitoring of the health facility, congratulated the women for their safe delivery and said, ” I want to join you to thank God for granting you safe delivery. I am very happy for what I have witnessed today in this hospital, it goes to show that the quick, quality and free maternal health policy thrust of His Excellency, Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration is been effectively implemented in this facility. I want to commend the Zonal Medical Director and his management team for their commitment to duty. We are satisfied with what we have observed here, the environment is very neat, everything is functioning properly and the attendance is quite high. I want to advice you to continue to sensitize the citizens especially those in the informal sector to enrol for the contributory health insurance scheme to enable them fully enjoy quick, quality, affordable and accessible health care program of His Excellency, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa the Governor of Delta State.”
“For you the happy mothers I want to advice you to talk to your husbands and encourage them to enrol for the health insurance scheme, if they have not done so. With only N7.000. per year, they will enjoy quality health care service including you the wives and your four other children who are under 18 years.
Once again thank you very much for your payers for the Governor. Thank you the ZMD for your dedication to duty.”

Other health facilities monitored same day Friday October 2nd, by the team were Government Hospital, Otu- Jeremi and Government Hospital, Orogun, where they also encouraged the management of both facilities to intensify their outreach and advocacy activities to get more people in the informal sector enrol for the contributory health insurance scheme, so as to enable more members of their host communities enjoy the quality, affordable and accessible health care program of His Excellency, Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration in Delta State.
