GOV. OKOWA BAGS AMLSN’S DISTINGUISH GOVERNOR AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

His Excellency Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, has bagged the AMLSN (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS OF NIGERIA) distinguish Governor award of Excellence for his giant strides in Leadership and performance in Governance.
While presenting the award, the national President of AMLSN Dr Bassey O. Bassey, said, we want to commend His Excellency, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, specifically for his preparedness and quick response to the outbreak of the dreaded global COVID 19 pandemic.
We also commend the governor for the great success recorded by his administration in establishing the Delta State contributory health insurance scheme (DSCHIS), this of course is a landmark achievement and a model across the Nation”.p
Dr Bassey also Lauded Governor Okowa for the good road networks he built across Delta state which, he noted, will facilitate access to good health care service as well as the upgrading of health facilities across the state to provide quality health care service to the the residents of the state. “We want to acknowledge the efforts of the Governor in the construction of road networks across the state and the storm project in tackling flood in Asaba, which have made it possible for citizens of Delta State to access health facilities with ease. The Association is also aware of His Excellency’s commitment to upgrading health facilities in the state to provide quality health care service to the people, we want to thank you, most immensely for your excellent services to the people. This award expressed our deep appreciation for your excellence service.” Dr Bassey O. Bassey concluded.
The award ceremony took place at Ecumenical Centre Abakiliki,
Ebonyi State, on Thursday 12 November, as part of the Association’s Annual Scientific Conference. The Governor was represented at the occasion by the Delta State Commissioner of health, Dr Ononye Mordi who received the award on behalf of the Governor. The commissioner thanked the members of AMLSN for acknowledging the contributions of Governor Okowa to the development of Delta State.
The commissioner also made a paper presentation on the theme of the Conference, ‘Misdiagnosis and Patient Diagnosis’ and made a Donation of five million naira (N5m) to the Association, on behalf of the Governor.Dr Kingsley Amaihunwa, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on health monitoring, who is also member of the Association, thanked His Excellency Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, for the donation of N5m to the Association, adding that the sum will go a long way in augmenting the Association’s scientific research programs on some infectious diseases.
