GOV OKOWA TO SSG EBIE, DELTANS: PROSPERITY, PEACE, PROGRESS ARE THE THREE PILLARS OF MY SECOND TENURE.

Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State, has said that his second tenure christened “Stronger Delta” shall be built on the triangular good governance connect of Prosperity, Peace and Progress.

The governor made the disclosure today June 3, 2019 at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba while speaking shortly after administering oath of office on the 11th Secretary to Delta State Government, Hon Barr. Chiedu Ebie.

He charged the new SSG to operate an open door policy and ensure that all ministries, departments and agencies are functioning in full capacity at all times; so as to effectively and efficiently assist government in the implementation of policies and programmes for the attainment of set out goals.

Gov Okowa hinted that the SSG’s office being the “engine room” of government is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the day to day affairs of the state, which is why nepotism and sectionalism must be abhorred in dealing with the multifaceted social, political and economic issues, for the consistent attainment of prosperity, peace and progress in Delta State.

He emphasised on the need for SSG Ebie to always be calm and calculated in dealing with diverse people and issues because of the sensitive nature of his office; and commended him for his strength of character, superb communication skills and analytical dept during his tenure as honourable commissioner for Basic Education; and as a valuable member of the State Executive Council during the life span of the first tenure.

Gov Okowa further stated that political appointments in the second tenure shall strictly be based on identified penchant for hardwork, competence and experience, pointing out that mediocrity, undue favouritism and insensitive political patronage shall be curtailed and jettisoned so as to ensure that only highly resourceful persons, youths and women are appointed to assist the governor and government to drive the Stronger Delta Agenda of this administration.

The Smart Governor thanked the immediate past SSG, Rt Hon Festus Ovie Agas for his hardwork, loyalty and competence, and urged Ebie to build on the solid foundation and glaring successes of his predecessors.

SSG Chiedu Ebie in his response assured Deltans and the governor that he shall adhere strictly to the principle of equity, justice and good conscience as instructed by Gov Okowa, in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities as the 11th Secretary to Delta State Government.

The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Dame Edith Okowa, Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro and his wife, Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshall Umukoro, immediate past SSG Ovie Agas, Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko, Chief of Staff David Edevbie, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Rt Hon Solomon Funkekeme, HRM Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, HRM Dein of Agbor, other traditional rulers, party leaders and dignitaries from all walks of life.
