IFEANYI OKOWA DESERVES TO BE CELEBRATED FOR THE MELODRAMATIC CHANGES IN THE STATE …….. DR. MICHAEL NWOKO
By Jerry Onwuma
The Special Assistant (Special Duties) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Contributory health commission, Dr. Michael Nwoko has stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa deserves to be celebrated for the melodramatic changes he has brought to Delta State.
Dr. Nwoko made this known yesterday while addressing news men shortly after the thanksgiving service to mark the third Anniversary of Governor Okowa’s administration in Delta state.
According to Dr. Nwoko, on may 29th , 2015, when his Excellency was inaugurated, been fully aware of the enormity of task ahead of him, he wasted no time, but immediately swung into action, and today exactly three years down the line, Deltans from all walks of life have every reason to celebrate with his Excellency, Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa going by the harvest of projects spread across every nooks and crannies of the State.
“The SMART Governor quickly unveiled his SMART Agenda of transforming lives, not minding the fact that he came on board when the economy was in bad shape”
SMART which is an acronym for
Strategic wealth creation and provision of jobs for all Deltans,
Meaningful peace building platforms aimed at political and Social stability,
Agricultural reforms and accelerated industrialization,
Relevant health and education policies and
Transformed Environment through Urban Renewal.
Dr. Nwoko said, If you critically take a closer look at each element of the SMART Agenda policy, beginning with Strategic wealth creation and provision of jobs for all Deltans, the STEP and YAGEP has recorded tremendous results, and today a very high number of Deltans have not just been employed, but have themselves become employer’s with very high multiplier effect.
“Today there’s relative peace and stability, socially, politically and otherwise which has lead us to where we are now in terms of sustainable economic, structural developments and a revamp in the economy”
“If you look at Agricultural reforms, and industrialisation it’s on record that Delta state has achieved remarkable progress with huge investment in the Agricultural sector, with over 3,850 hectares of farmland acquired
As today, over 4,000 farmers in the state have been accredited for CBN Anchor borrowers Scheme, with another 760 and 500 youths ready for the take off of tomatoes and fisheries cluster farms under the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS)”
” In the area of Health, his Excellency has done very well, with the establishment of the Delta State Contributory health Commission where over 200,000 residents of Delta State have been captured and accessing health care in accredited secondary, private and primary health care facilities across the State. The sector has also enjoyed renovation of hospitals and supply of hospital equipment, and primary health care facilities are now closer to the people than ever before”. The free medical care for widows across the State is also novel.
In the area of Road construction and rehabilitation, Dr. Nwoko said, Gov. Okowa has performed far beyond the expectation of all Deltans, with the uncommon transformation of roads IG economic importance linking Villages, towns and cities.
He therefore concluded by saying that one good turn deserved another and Deltans will reward Okowa with their votes in 2019.
