The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr Michael Nwoko has urged residents of the State to use the opportunity provided by the establishment of the Delta State contributory health insurance scheme to enjoy affordable accessible and quality health care service by enrolling into the Scheme which is being midwifed by the Delta State Contributory Health Commission.
He described the Health Insurance scheme as the gateway to affordable, accessible and quality health care service.
The SSA gave the advice while exchanging views with reporters in his office on Wednesday September 16th. Answering questions on the health challenges facing Deltans amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,
Dr Nwoko said, I want to first and foremost commend His Excellency, Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State for his foresight in establishing the Delta State Contributory Health Commission to midwife the States contributory health insurance scheme. Residents of the State do not need to worry about paying for health care services from their pockets as long as they are enrolled into the contributory health insurance scheme and that no matter the amount of pressure on the health care facilities, enrollees of the health insurance program are always given priority attention and service at their recepient facilities.” He maintained.

Continuing, the SSA said, “aside the special attention given to enrollees of the scheme in the facilities they are captured, health insurance help enrollees to avoid out of pocket expenses, such expenses like the costs of obtaining hospital cards, consultancy fees and cost of laboratory investigations and drugs.”
