Healthcare Providers Should Brace Up To Effective Health Care Delivery — Dr. Michael Nwoko

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr Michael Nwoko has urged health care providers in the State to brace up to rendering effective health care services to the people in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the State in line with the stronger Delta Agenda of the Governor Okowa’s led administration.

The SSA made the call at the Central Hospital, Warri, when he led the State’s Monitoring team to an assessment visit to the Hospital on 4th March, 2020.

Addressing the management and staff of the Hospital after being conducted round the various units and departments in the Centre by the Chief Matron, Mrs. Odije Helen on behalf of the Zonal Medical Director of the Hospital who was in Asaba on official assignment.
Dr. Nwoko stated, ‘we have observed the busy nature of the facility and the cordial working relationship existing among the staff here, we are very impressed with such working environment, so, I want commend you for that and also urge you to show great passion for the job by handling patients with love and care whilst administering treatment to them. By so doing, you would brace up to your duties and bring about effective health delivery which can guarantee Universal Health Coverage in the State.’ He emphasized.

Further he added, I also want to advise the management and staff of the Hospital to always endeavor to create necessary awareness and sensitisation of the people within the community where the health care facility is domiciled on the benefits of the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme and the need for them to key in especially the informal sector plan.’ He stated.

Also addressing the management and staff of the Zonal Hospital, Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, when the team visited on Thursday 5th March, Dr. Nwoko advised the staffers to always work together as a team to ensure optimal performance of the health facility to meet up with the State Government’s Universal Health Coverage Policy as contained in the Stronger Delta agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

Equally, at the Government General Hospital, Agbarho, in Ughelli North LGA, Dr. Nwoko admonished the health personnel in the Hospital to be committed to the full implementation of the equity plan of the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme which is the free maternal and Child Health Program of the State Government.

The reenforced health monitoring team were at Uvwie, Warri South and Ughelli North LGA, from 4th to 5th March, 2020, to monitor and assess health facilities in the axis as part of their duty; to monitor, assess and evaluate health facilities in the State for necessary appraiser and reports on areas demanding the attention of the relevant agencies to improve their capacity to render quality, assessable, affordable and efficient healthcare service to all residents of Delta State.

The Monitoring Team, led by Dr. Michael Nwoko, also includes; Dr Patrick Onwuachi, Dr Kingsley Amaihunwa and Dr Sam Efetobore, all SSA’s to the Governor on Health Monitoring.
