Health Minister To Constitute A Technical Working Committee To Liaise With Ned Nwoko Foundation.

The Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has disclosed that a technical working committee (TWC) on the eradication of the scourge of malaria in Nigeria will be constituted to liaise with Ned Nwoko Foundation to come up with robust and formidable plans to execute the laudable program in Nigeria.
The Minister stated this on Tuesday December 8, when the management of Ned Nwoko Foundation, led by its President, Hon Prince (Dr) Ned Munir Nwoko paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.
The Antarctica explorer visited the Honourable Health Minister to present the detailed plans of his Foundation’s Malaria eradication Project to the Minister, Dr Osagie Ehanire and Minister of State for Health Dr Adeleke Olorunibe Mamora.

In the three prone plans, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko stressed far reaching Environmental Sanitation, Malaria Vaccine Development and Fumigation of the entire country as the best ways to put a permanent end to the scourge of malaria in Nigeria vis-a-vis Africa.

Hon Prince Ned Nwoko also shared his Antarctica experience with the Minister and his team as well presented him with an album which documented his Antarctica expedition as the first black African to visit the south pole in Antarctica, which he undertook to raise global awareness on the scourge of malaria in Africa.

In his response the Health Minister praised Prince Ned Nwoko for his resilience and doggedness in pursuing the audacious malaria eradication project and assured him that the Federal Ministry of Health will be willing to partner with his foundation through the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP). The Health Minister further added that he will constitute a technical working committee to liaise with Ned Nwoko Foundation, to come up with a robust and formidable plans to completely eradicate the scourge of Malaria in Nigeria.k

Also in his remarks, the Minister of State for Health, Dr O. M. Adeleke commended Hon Prince Ned Nwoko for the laudable initiative.
In his words Dr Adeleke said, “for a Nigerian to start a fight to end the scourge of malaria in Nigeria and Africa, is something Africa should be proud of and I want to commend you for this Laudable initiative.”

Among those present in the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Mr Abdulaziz Abdullahi, a Director at the National Malaria Programme (NMEP) Dr Tim Obot, Project Coordinator Prince Ned Nwoko Malaria Project, Mr Chuks Anyaduba and others.

It was reported that the World Health organization, (WHO) estimates that a child dies of Malaria in Africa, in every two minutes. The report also stated that governments, cooporate bodies and individuals have tried different methods to eradicate malaria in the continent but to no avail.

However, out of his spirit of patriotism and philanthropy Hon Prince (Dr) Ned Munir Nwoko, through his Foundation, Ned Nwoko Foundation’s Let’s Eradicate Malaria In Africa, took some bold steps to ensure that malaria is completely wiped out of the continent of Africa, starting with Nigeria.
