The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko has reminded staffers of health facilities across the State that the vision of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, is to see that health facilities in the State are up and running, and are optimally utilized for effective healthcare delivery service to the people.
Dr. Michael Nwoko stated this while addressing the Press at the General Hospital, Ogwashi Uku, on Thursday 25th October 2019, shortly after he and his Co SSA, Health Monitoring, Dr. Patrick Onwuachi had gone round the departments, units and wards in the hospital.

Addressing the Press further, Dr. Nwoko added, ‘I am very impressed with the level of care provided for patients in this facility, especially the enrollees of the Health Insurance Scheme and I want to commend the staff for the good work they are doing and also encourage them to increase their momentum.
We have seen the equipment they have, we have also dropped a checklist for them to complete and return to the Office for effective appraisal of the facility.
As you are aware, His Excellency is totally determined to carry out direct oversight of health facilities across the State so as to ensure optimal performance. Considering that Delta State is on the spotlight when it comes to achieving the Universal Health Coverage Policy in the Country.
Having realized the resounding contributions of His Excellency in the Health sector, as a medical doctor, as a formal commissioner for Health, as a former Senator and now as Governor, you will agree with me that his innovative ideas in the health sector clearly demonstrates his passion for the health of the people. Dr. Michael Nwoko emphasised’

On the sustainability of the health programs of this administration, Dr Nwoko said, ‘we know that expectations are high with respect to ensuring that we sustain the tempo. We also know that getting to the top is not the real challenge but the ability to maintain the momentum and remain at the top is what matters. That is why His Excellency deployed us to the field to carry out direct oversight of the health facilities in the State by way of monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
Now everybody is aware that there is a now order in the health sector in the State, and this has lend credence to the reawakening in the entire system and everyone is in high spirit.
This new spirit will encourage a more effective service delivery by the health facilities and help to bridge the gap between the demand side and supply side of health care and in turn guarantee Universal Health Coverage for all residents of the State’. Dr. Michael Nwoko concluded’.

Also, addressing the Press, Dr. Patrick Onwuachi expressed satisfaction at the conduct of management and staff of the Hospital, his words, ‘my impression of the hospital is very good, the staff are working very hard, the environment is very clean. We have interviewed some mothers under the free maternal care and I am impressed that all of them expressed satisfaction with the level of care they are receiving. They are thankful to His Excellency for the free maternal and Child health services they are recieving.
We are here to ensure that His Excellency’s idea of taking healthcare service in Delta State to higher level is achieved.
What is interesting to me here is the issue of power supply and I want to urge other hospitals in the state to come here to understudy how the hospital have solved the problem of power supply with their internally generated revenue. I want to commend them for their commitment to duty.’ Dr. Onwuachi concluded.
