PRINCE NED NWOKO WILL BE INAUGURATED SENATOR NEXT TUESDAY UNLESS…

AS the Tuesday 11th June, 2019 historic date for the inauguration of the 9th Senate draws nearer, one puzzle that might be agitating the minds of some people is this: Who between Prince Ned Nwoko and Chief Peter Nwaoboshi would be inaugurated that day as the Senator representing the good people of Delta North Senatorial District at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly?

The answer is simple and the facts of the matter are as follows:

First, both Ned Nwoko and Nwaoboshi campaigned in the run down to the last senatorial election. In fact, Ned Nwoko apart from campaigning ahead of the senatorial election also canvassed vigorously for the PDP in the presidential, House of Representatives, governorship and State Assembly elections in Delta State. In the process, he was given an additional task as the Vice Chairman of the Delta State Election Campaign Council. It is noteworthy that the logos of the various participating political parties were on the ballot papers not the names of individual candidates.

Thousands of members of several PDP Support Groups, mill around the Star Prince of Anioma nation as they are eager to receive his message of courage on election 2019.

The PDP panel that organized the October 2 senatorial primary of the PDP in Asaba surprisingly declared Nwaoboshi winner but the verdict was immediately rejected by Nwoko who insisted that he actually defeated Nwaoboshi with a margin of about 70 votes.

Pundits had predicted a convincing victory for Nwoko prior to the primary provided that officials saddled with the task of conducting the exercise allowed a free and fair contest.

But as it turned out, the conduct of the primary was fraught with manipulation and falsification of result. Feeling short-changed, Ned Nwoko after a hide and seek ugly experience with some party officials in the state, approached the courts to debar the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] from publishing the name of Nwaoboshi as the PDP candidate.

Nwoko secured a favourable judgment on April 3, 2019 from the Federal High Court, Abuja which voided the candidature of Nwaoboshi and directed INEC to revoke the certificate of return earlier given to the latter and re-issue same to him. Frantic efforts by Nwaoboshi to secure a stay of execution failed as INEC duly issued a certificate of return to Ned Nwoko which has not been withdrawn till date.

The implication of this is that Ned Nwoko remains the Senator-elect for Delta North and would be sworn into office next Tuesday along with other 108 distinguished members of the upper legislative chamber.

That is without prejudice to the recent verdict of the Court of Appeal. Apart from approaching the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment, Ned Nwoko has also filed a motion for stay of execution. What that implies is that the status quo ante remains. In other words, unless INEC revokes the certificate of return given to Ned Nwoko and issues a new one to Nwaoboshi the latter would have no business at the National Assembly next Tuesday because the certificate issued to Ned Nwoko remains valid and alive.

Therefore, barring any fresh development by way of competent court judgment, denial of stay of execution or INEC taking a contrary action, Prince Ned Nwoko will be inaugurated on Tuesday as the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District.

Devoid of sentiment, this is the true state of affairs presently with regard to Delta North Senatorial District seat.

In Ned Nwoko, Anioma people have an accomplished son, brother and leader who has what it takes to launch Delta North, not just on national but also the global stage. Ned Nwoko would be storming the Senate in a blaze of honour and accolades as the man who ended Nigeria’s economic recession. He achieved the feat by securing the biggest lifeline in Nigeria’s history – the famous Paris Club refunds of excess financial deductions by the Western world’s most powerful monetary cartels.

It is a thing of great pride and joy that Ned Nwoko the African hero who made that big life saving payment possible is going to represent Anioma in the Senate. Ned Nwoko evokes integrity, honesty, care, candour and patriotism.

Prince Ned Nwoko, a man on a Rescue mission.

With Prince Ned Nwoko at the centre complementing the efforts of our visionary and performing governor, Senator [Dr] Ifeanyi Okowa, a brighter future is guaranteed for Anioma and Delta State.
