Study Very Hard Whilst You Engage In Unionism – Dr. Michael Nwoko

Urges NADESSTU

The National Association of Delta State Students has been urged to always remember the primary reason they are in school and strive to study hard so that they can graduate in record time with good results, whilst engaged in Union activities.The advice was given to the students by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State (Health Monitoring), Dr Michael Nwoko, when the leadership of the student’s body, paid him a courtesy visit at his office, Asaba.

In his address to the executive of NADESSTU, Dr. Nwoko said, ‘I want to thank you for this visit, I consider your coming here a great honour. I do appreciate the fact that you recognize my efforts so far, since I had the honour and privilege to serve the State as Senior Special Assistant to His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State. I promise to continue to do my best to maintan the confidence, His Excellency reposed on me, by the special grace of God.’ Dr Nwoko stated.

Continuing, the SSA to the Governor said, ‘I want to first of all, advice you to study very hard whilst involved in student’s unionism, so that you can graduate in record time with good results and join the struggle to better the larger society,’

Secondly, I want to assure you of my total support for your requests and in other areas of needs as executive of NADESSTU and the entire student’s community in line with my usual support for the youths in order for them to unlock their potentials and contribute meaningfully to the the development of the society.’ The SSA assured the students.

Conclusively, Dr Nwoko added ‘I also want to advice you to shun negative vices and remain focused in the pursuit of your chosen career and to use your talent and skill for positive development of the country.’

Earlier, whilst giving reasons for the visit, the NADESSTU President Comrade Godwin Saturday said, ‘we are here to congratulate you on your recent elevation to SSA by our amiable Governor and to thank you for the passion you have so far displayed in the discharge of your official duties.
We are following your activities every day and we appreciate your dexterity to serve with great zeal.’

‘Having said that, we also took into consideration your high disposition towards the concerns of the youths and most especially the students, hence we felt you are the most suitable person to assist us in addressing the major concerns of Delta State Students.’ Comr. Saturday stated.

Continuing, the National President of NADESSTU, enumerated the requests of the students to include; the Provision of Drugs and Facilities on Campuses, inspection of health facilities in major Campuses within and outside the State and finally, a request for partnership with the health monitoring office, especially in the area of sensitisation of the people on the various health policies being implemented by the administration of Governor Okowa, to address their health challenges.

The National President, Comr. Godwin Saturday was accompanied on the courtesy visit by members of his executive, they included Comrades Princess Ebooks, Victor Obijenu, Odogwu Hyacinth and Chima Sophia.
